Bringing Hope to little Haitian brothers and sisters in Christ
Joe White is a longtime supporter of the Divine Shelter Christian school network in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Most schools in Haiti charge tuition, which puts an education out of reach to the poor majority. As a result, 50 percent of the population is illiterate and trapped in a cycle of poverty.
Thanks to the support of caring Christians who give through Cross International, poor children are able to attend a Divine Shelter School for free. They are also provided with a healthy school lunch — for many, the only meal of the day. With nourished bodies, minds and souls, these children are better equipped to break free from the cycle of poverty and face a brighter future.Read More about Divine Shelter Schools.
Straining under the load, a Roman crossbuilder lugs a 14-foot log down the center aisle and hoists it onto the stage, opening the captivating rendition of Jesus’ crucifixion told through the eyes of the man who built his cross.
Swinging an axe and a hammer, sweat trickling down his face, the crossbuilder, played by Joe White, talks to himself about who this doomed prisoner claims to be, all the while constructing the tree on which Jesus will hang. The unfolding scene brings home the reality of Jesus’ sacrifice for us all.
