Urgent Appeal: Massive Earthquake Devastates Haiti

Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 12th a massive 7.2 earthquake shook Haiti, demolishing a hospital, schools, and homes and leaving what many fear are thousands dead. The epicenter of the deadly earthquake was Port-au-Prince, the country’s densely-populated capital city and main seaport. Experts are calling it the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in Haiti.

The current picture is grim, with scores of people wandering the streets, wailing for dead or missing relatives, and seeking medical care in makeshift tent clinics because the hospitals have been crushed. No numbers yet on casualties, but officials are estimating casualties from 100,000 to as high as 500,000 dead.

Please help us answer the pleas coming from our Christian brothers and sisters who serve the poor in Haiti. They urgently need our help to save lives. Your one-time gift of $60 provides a disaster relief “care package” to the victims of Haiti. The “care package” could include food, water, basic medical supplies, blankets, or house rebuilding supplies.
