Medicine and Hope

You Can Be an Answer to Prayer

Help us raise the $105,000 needed to deliver life-saving medicine and food to the poor in the Dominican Republic!

The smiling man in the photograph is Moises Juan. He grew up living in an impoverished sugar cane batey in the Dominican Republic, where he witnessed laborers working backbreaking days in the fields for a meager wage.

As a young boy, Moises' mother died of preeclampsia during childbirth – leaving his father alone to care for their newborn daughter and other children. Skilled medical care could have saved Moises' mother's life.

Today, more than three decades later and motivated by her memory, Moises leads medical mission teams into the poorest bateyes of his childhood. Those he serves have a difficult time earning enough to purchase food for their families, much less cover the cost of health care. Through the compassionate service of his medical mission teams, lives are being saved and God's love is being shared in a practical way to the poorest of the poor.

Now, Moises needs your help to continue serving these families.

His mission teams are in urgent need of medicines and other supplies to serve the poor. With your help, Cross International will ship seven containers of the medicine and food needed to help Moises come to the aid of poor families and share the love of Jesus.

One medical container is valued at $4,494,466 and will help treat 52,106 patients.*

Embrace God's call to care for the poor &ndash please give today!

A "batey" is a housing settlement near the sugar cane fields. The homes in the bateyes are barracks-style housing units constructed of scrap metal sheets, tarps and other materials. The community shares a simple latrine. These extreme conditions can lead to an increased need for medical care and treatment.

Please help us provide the medical care and food that's desperately needed by these poor families living in these bateyes.
The more help we receive, the more lives we can save. Make your generous contribution today!

Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for the Medicine, Healing and Hope project incurred through June 30, 2019, the close of our ministry’s new fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
