Job Opening: International Development Associate

Department: Major Donor and/or Mid-Level Donors
Report to:  International Development Manager
Educational or Certification Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Experience Requirements:  Minimum 3 years of successful fundraising experience for a non-profit or equivalent experience in a related field with field.  Understanding of fundraising as a stewardship ministry.

Position Summary:
The International Development Associate is responsible for enhancing the mid-level donor  team’s ability to maintaining and increase funding from donors through effective identification, cultivation and solicitation. The focus of this position is to provide exceptional service to targeted donors in an effort to increase giving and  lift them to targeted giving levels by identifying and deepening long-term relationships built on a firm understanding of donor interests, passions and values.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Require/Preferred:
  1. A sound working knowledge of fundraising principles.
  2. Proven ability to work independently and effectively with donors and as part of a team.
  3. Proven ability to work independently with a demonstrated ability to take initiative in effectively communicating Cross’ projects and goals.
  4. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and resolve problems quickly.
  5. Sensitive to Christian-based fundraising.
  6. Commitment to professional ethics in working with highly confidential, sensitive information.
  7. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to respond adeptly to rapidly changing priorities and ability to work well under pressure.
  8. Superior oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal, organizational and motivational skills.
  9. Database management skills and proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide exceptional service to donors in assigned region to increase their giving and involvement; includes campaign calling, donor correspondence, research and/or database updates;
  2. Other duties as assigned.
Donor Research/Qualification (10%)
  1. Demonstrate a keen sense of curiosity for donors – seeking to discover what compels each donor to give; what questions to ask; how to meet the needs of the donor;
  2. Work collaboratively with supervisor to  analyze portfolios and strategize upgrades within mid-level donors/major donors;
  3. Other duties as assigned.
Relationship Management and Solicitation (55%)
  1. Take the lead relationship management and solicitation role with donors in portfolio;
  2. Meet or exceed the expected level of donor activity each week and month, i.e., number of calls, asks, personal correspondence, etc.;
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Cultivation and Stewardship (25%)
  1. Cultivate donor relationships through frequent personal contact including phone calls, prayer with the donor, personal notes and e-mail;
  2. Regularly review lapsing donors in an effort to re-engage;
  3. Actively thank donors for support through review of weekly gift reports; call and welcome major donors within a week of receiving them into region; include personal notes with updates to key donors;
  4. Elevate donors to lead IDO portfolio through cultivation and stewardship; partner with supervisor and Major Donor International Development Officers lead IDO to transition relationship when appropriate;
  5. Other duties as assigned.
Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation (10%)
  1. Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activity to achieve major gift revenue goals;
  2. Constructively share donor feedback to improve process and marketing strategies;
  3. Uphold set process protocol for organization and department related to donor records and accurate documentation of all interactions with donors;
  4. Other duties as assigned.
