WE QUENCHED THEIR THIRST AND SHARED LIVING WATER

Our ImpactIn rural Vietnamese villages, poor families often lack access to clean water. Thanks to the gifts from our donors, we have helped rural evangelical churches install wells that will provide an abundant supply of clean water throughout the year. By meeting this common but vital need, Vietnamese Christians have been able to effectively represent Christ to an atheist culture that severely restricts their right to preach the Gospel. As a result, local Communist officials’ attitudes toward Christians have softened, and many families have been drawn into local churches, where they have tasted the living water that only comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Cross International relieves chronic dehydration and fights waterborne illness by providing abundant, clean water sources in impoverished communities.

Water projects have many other benefits too. The poor typically spend hours fetching dirty water from contaminated sources. Thanks to Cross projects, families we helped could turn on a tap in their yard or walk to their neighborhood pump-operated well for clean, safe water. As a result, children have the time to go to school, and mothers can focus on other needs of their families.

In 2015, Cross International used gifts from donors to fund six water projects in the countries of Vietnam, Haiti, Nicaragua and Guatemala. Among these projects was an ongoing effort of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam to provide community wells in poor rural villages. Outreaches of this kind represent an important tool for evangelization in countries that prohibit pastors from preaching the Gospel openly in communities.
