A thriving future starts with basic needs. Ambuya Development Centre provides so much more.

Thanganyika Village outside of Malawi is home to more than 5,300 people, many of them women and children. 85% of villagers are living on less than $1 a day, a significantly lower amount than Malawi overall, where 70% of its overall population lives on $1.90 a day.  As a result of this severe poverty, the village struggles with drug and alcohol abuse, an HIV/AIDS pandemic, overcrowded homes due to the influx of orphaned children, drought and lack of access to education, food and clean water. In March 2019 the area encountered cyclone Idai, the worst tropical cyclone on record. Families are unable to properly rebuild their homes.

With Your Help, There is Hope

Through the love and support of Cross International givers like you, ten year old Roderick is a success story. He has a safe home, attends the fourth grade, receives food six days a week, and has a future of possibility that didn’t exist before.

Since its inception, ADC has provided life-changing resources to Thanganyika using funds from your thoughtful gifts.

  • 300 orphans and vulnerable children fed 6 days a week for +4 years
  • 143 women have received job/skills training and microloans
  • Child education on protection against abuse, life skills and future planning
  • Installation and community training of solar-powered clean water system
  • Organic vegetable garden to support school feeding program
  • Christian development and sharing of Christ’s love with children and mothers.

Our goals are big. Our God is bigger.

Today, our vision is to continue feeding 300 children six days a week, rebuild 335 homes and build a fellowship hall that includes a cafeteria, community event space and evacuation center. And because there are more female-led households in Africa today than ever before, we hope to offer microloans to 200 women so more mothers can feed, take care of, and send their children to school. Roderick is one child out of 300 that needs the hope of a bright future. As we pray that our programming grows year over year, we also pray that you’ll consider monthly support for Thanganyika Village, southern Malawi, and all Thriving Kids Africa.

Your generous gift will be used to support Cross International’s Thriving Kids initiative through June 30 2022, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the initiative, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry and may be used in the following fiscal year.
