Senior Marketing and Media Manager

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Media 

Position Summary:

The role of Cross International’s Senior Marketing and Media Manager requires a proactive and collaborative team leader who helps to implement Cross International’s marketing initiatives. The Senior Marketing and Media Manager is able to coordinate the implementation of marketing strategies, initiatives, and ensure tasks are accomplished on schedule, on budget, and achieve established measured outcomes. Marketing strategies and initiatives include direct marketing, online cultivation and acquisition, social media engagement, radio broadcast acquisition program, second gift cultivations, sustainer giving, and other types of fundraising.

Knowledge, and Required Competencies:

  • Action-oriented and self-motivated, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strategic team leader with a proven ability to produce results.
  • Highly collaborative; ability to work independently and as part of a team including supervising others.
  • Strong skills in non-profit fundraising, multimedia marketing channels, content development, and performance metrics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a marketing role, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Outstanding management and communications skills, ability to collaborate with and influence others, sense of urgency, nimbleness, creative thinking and personal integrity.
  • Highly organized and innovative approaches to creating and executing marketing and communication campaigns.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • As part of CI’s marketing and media team, execute a multi-channel marketing plan focused on donor acquisition, engagement, donor cultivation, sustainer giving, fundraising strategies, P2P fundraising, text-to-give programs, and content development, including the current CI direct mail, digital, social media and radio acquisition strategies.
    • Monitor and track strategic plans to include budgets, goals, and results data
    • Collect and analyze competitive intelligence (e.g. marketing programs or campaigns) to assist in the enhancement of future marketing strategies
  • Create and/or manage compelling media that builds awareness and engagement through story-telling and CI messaging that leads to increases in audience size and fundraising levels.  Create content through writing stories/blogs/posts/appeals/eblasts, acquisition downloadables, shooting photography, and coordinating videography services.
  • Manage website content and website personnel.  Manage Cross’ WordPress site.
  • Assist in the management and growth of all social media channels.
  • Monitor and maintain consistent brand image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Manage relationships with select vendors. Be a strong delegator and project manager. Create process flows, systems and manage resources wisely.
  • Identify target audiences and ensure all marketing efforts are appropriately messaging to and reaching those audiences
  • Assist with media requests for information, facilitating media interviews and developing news releases, news materials, fact sheets and talking points for CI’s programs
  • Develop and manage efficient and effective copy / content production processes to optimize staff/vendor time for maximum ROI
  • Maintain/track annual marketing budget and marketing/communications calendar
  • Execute advertising and promotion activities as needed or requested by Director of Marketing & Media
  • Provides supervision for and assures the following roles are meeting the required objectives, and strives to help these staff members grow in professional abilities:
    • Broadcast Marketing Assistant
    • Digital Marketing Specialist

Education or Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications or a related field.

General Requirements:

  • Is a person of committed Christian faith
  • Will be an active member/attender of a local Christian church and is a contributing part of a local body of believers.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, and minimum of 5 years in a marketing management role
  • Solid background in fundraising including direct mail, online fundraising, social media, text to give, P2P fundraising, acquisition, cultivation, and sustainer giving.
  • Excellent skills in writing content and photography.
  • Experience in WordPress, Google adwords, keywords, SEM, and other digital tools.
  • Has a deep desire and a calling to serve the world’s poor.
  • Is eager to participate in the active Christian community at CI.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and cultivate long-term relationships.
  • Strong project management skills. Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines.
  • High energy and passion for CI mission is essential, in order to motivate groups and individuals.
  • Ability to effectively work remotely from a home office as needed, with occasional travel to CI headquarters. Ability to work independently, but also a team player who can take direction and will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Cross International.
  • Some international travel to project sites may be required, less than 10% of time. (All travel is dependent on CI current travel policy and in relation to COVID-19)
