Cross International knows that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate you trusting that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This Privacy Policy explains our practices and the choices you can make about the way your data is collected and used by Cross International. It applies to information that we collect both online and offline.
We obtain information about you when you use our website, for example, when you contact us about products and services, to make a donation, to volunteer with our organization and programs or if you register to receive one of our weekly newsletters.
We collect information primarily to accept donations, complete our charitable projects, and provide you with information concerning our programs, projects, and activities. We also use information for analytical purposes, to improve our website, our donor base, our outreach, or to respond to requests for information. We may inform you of other purposes at the time that we collect some forms of information. For example, if you apply for a job we may collect information in order to process your job application.
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or as long as is set out in any relevant contract you hold with us.
Our legal basis for processing your information includes: fulfilling our agreement with you when you make a donation or request something from us; and our legitimate interest in keeping our donors and supporters informed about our work, including through updates and fundraising appeals. Where applicable law requires a different basis for sending you electronic communications, we rely on the relevant exemption available to charities and nonprofits in your jurisdiction.
We will not trade, share, sell or rent your information with other organizations or any third parties.
We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third Party Service Providers working on our behalf: We may pass your information to our third party service providers, agents subcontractors and other associated organizations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to process donations and send you mailings). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. Please be reassured that we will not release your information to third parties beyond the Cross International Network for them to use for their own direct marketing purposes, unless you have requested us to do so, or we are required to do so by law, for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.
Third Party Product Providers we work in association with: We work closely with various third party product providers to bring you a range of quality and reliable services. These third party product providers will share your information with us which we will use in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
When you are using our secure online donation pages, your donation is processed by a third-party payment processor, who specializes in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. We use state-of-the-art cryptographic algorithms during data transmission (HTTPS with RSA 2048 bit key and SHA 256 certificate) and in our databases (AES 256 encryption with unique per-row keys). We encrypt all donations and payments made at the highest security standard – PCI Level 1 Compliance. Not only are we PCI compliant, but we have taken the extra step of achieving SOC II Type 2 compliance. All supplied sensitive and credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway provider’s database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential. After a transaction, your private information (credit cards, social security numbers, financials, etc.) will not be stored on our servers but on certified data centers with SSAE16 certifications, with 24×7 monitoring.
If you have any questions regarding secure transactions, please contact us.
International data transfers: If you are located outside the United States, please note that your information will be transferred to, processed and stored in, the United States, where our organization and our service providers (including our donor database and email platform) are based.
